Recipe for Brand x Art

Curator: Rika Eguchi

Interview from Artist/Art show

"-What kind of difficulties did you encounter when executing this delicious motif?"

"It was most difficult to line up and persuade the artists to participate in the exhibition. A lot of artists did not want to create an artwork using a company mascot as the major element"
"-Which stage of curating an exhibition is most essential to you?"

"The essential value of curating an exhibition to me is 'to put myself in the position of the audience.' All stages are important. We wanted to make this show a never-before-seen one to satisfy the audience. So we discussed and reviewed again and again. We made predictions on what kind of chemistry would occur by matching particular artists. Supporting artists, who helped resolve problems throughout the process, were important too"

Rika Eguchi states an important issue of continuously questioning the progression of the show. This is a crucial element as we currently have promising ideas however, little has been resolved.
The concept of making predictions on the calculated chemistry between artists is an aspect we need to consider. As we accumulate a diversity of art and conceptual thinking our show should not only establish the connection between the audience but the relationship between each opposing artworks.
